In 2021 we completed a full renovation of the back half of our house and it is now an adorable townhome. We preserved the lovely period details-high ceilings, wainscot & moldings and added NEW: bathrooms, kitchen & appliances, washer/dryer, carpet, hardwood & marble floors. The cozy sunroom is a great spot to work or dine. You will adore the vintage vibe of our delightful historic neighborhood where tourists and locals love to stroll. It’s a terrific home base for your north coast adventure!
We have lovely new comfortable bedding including heated mattress pads. The new queen mattress is high quality. There are blockout curtains in the bedrooms. The fabulous new kitchen is supplied with everything you need plus a few basic spices and oils to start you off cooking. There is a Keurig machine with some coffee pods to begin your stay with and also a french press, coffee grinder, electric kettle and pour over carafe & filter. The townhouse is 960 sqft. Since the house has high ceilings it can get chilly so please bring appropriate clothing for lounging around the house. Due to exorbitant heating costs we have locked our thermostat so that it cannot go above 68 degrees.
During your stay~
We welcome you to message us with any needs or questions. We live in the front part of the house and are available if needed but expect to be hands off hosts so as to respect your privacy. The Townhouse has a little front yard that has a secure entrance gate which is completely separate from our yard space and entrance. Once a week we will need to enter the Townhouse fenced yard to collect the trash. Every few weeks, we will also need to enter the yard to do landscaping but we will message you well in advance so that we don’t interfere with your privacy. We are taking the highest precautions in security and cleaning to make sure your stay in our townhouse is most enjoyable.
Please note that painting and repairs will be continuing on the other side of the house a few days every week during business hours. Occasional noise will not be loud but will sometimes be noticeable. Since this house is over 130 years old sound does carry from our side of the house to the Townhouse side. Therefore guests will occasionally hear muffled speaking, kitchen sink noises, and our dishwasher and washer and dryer running.
We really enjoy our lovely spot here in Eureka. Across G street from our place is the gorgeous Zanone House which has a beautiful bird filled park. Just around the block is the best bistro in Humboldt-Brick&Fire. Walking down to Old Town via G St for dinner or coffee is an architectural delight! It’s a 12 block walk (1 mile, 5 min drive) but we love it so much we walk downtown several times a week.
Even though there is much that is accessible by foot you’ll want to have a car so you can get to all the gorgeous beaches, beautiful vistas and fabulous hiking, surfing, bird watching and climbing spots that the Redwood Coast has to offer. There is plenty of parking on the street directly in front of the townhouse entrance.
